A theater that is being used anew by another company every week is perhaps the most immediate expression of an intense and intimate experience in a liminal space. After the strike down, the building is brought back to its zero-position, ready for the next artist's performance. By photographing these spaces in their last breath--right before being demolished or renovated in the advent of gentrification--I document the current and physical state of the building. These photographs were taken from Sophiensaele theater in Berlin in october 2010, as part of the series PLACES LOST. Collaboration on lights: Bruno Pocheron. Publication on demand.
Other spaces in Austria and Belgium were photographed and published in the context of the building itself, 2010
